The Lobsters
by C.R.M. Nilsson

I love lobster. But I don’t want to eat it too often. It should be a treat, so I’ll only eat it when there’s something to celebrate. Therefore it doesn’t surprise me when you take me out for our fourth anniversary. It’s an outdoor restaurant and the lobster is delicious.

“I love the way you eat lobster,” you say with a teasing smile.

I assume I have food all over my face and smile awkwardly. Before I know it, you’re kneeling in front of me with a ring. I didn’t see it coming.

“Marry me?” you ask nervously.

“Uhm, what?”
