Garden Setting
by C.R.M. Nilsson

If anybody had told Darlene this morning that there’d be a crying woman in her garden, she’d not believe them. Now she sits there and tries to comfort Maja. It’s not self-pitying tears, she recognises. Frustrated tears.

She marvels at it all. It’s a hard life to live, but from what she gathers they are determined to see it through. For a moment she thinks of her and Justin. Would they’ve worked it through? Then she beats the thought to submission. What matters is Maja.

A young man looks over the fence. It’s Maja’s Jonas and she invites him over.
